“Fall” In Love: The Jayesslee Sisters in Vancouver
Sunday, November 6th, 2011 :: 4:31 pm
The YouTube sensation twin sisters from Australia, Janice and Sonia Lee, aka jayesslee, were in Vancouver last month on the 14th! After hearing their covers on YouTube, I couldn’t miss this chance to hear them live!
The concert started out with the string trio, Infinitus, moving on to Ezra Kwizera from Rwanda, and then the third special guest was Jay Calder on acoustic guitar (you can hear a bit of his music in the videos embedded in this post).
Then of course, everyone was thrilled when the the twins took the stage after about an hour and half into the show! Janice and Sonia kept the audience “in love” with their harmonious voices for the reminder of the time, even with a few songs that haven’t been released on their YouTube channel before! Their bubbly personalities, smiles, and interactions with the audience certainly make it a night to remember. Loved the set decoration. I’ve also included three of their videos at the end :-)
Hope they are back in Vancouver for another concert soon!

Cafe Medina
Sunday, September 11th, 2011 :: 5:42 pm
Another brunch place I’ve been meaning to try. Cafe Medina is located beside the wonderful Belgian restaurant, Chambar, and is operated by the same owners.
It’s quite a busy place and took about an hour before we were able to get a seat. Slightly pricey and I miss my eggs benedict!

La Quercia
Saturday, September 10th, 2011 :: 11:42 pm
Picked by VanMag as 2011 Restaurant of the Year, Best Restaurant for Informal Dining, and Best Casual Italian, I don’t think you can go wrong by trying La Quercia. It was recommended by a co-worker and we decided to go for the $60 11 course menu. Their courses were served family style, so it was more or less sharing plates for enough people. Since the dishes are decided by the chef, each time the experience may be different. I’ll attempt to go through the names of each course from memory. Definitely worth a try if you’re looking for some creative Italian cooking.
