Dine Out Vancouver 2012 – Carmichael’s @ Hilton

Monday, January 30th, 2012 :: 9:31 pm

Carmichael’s Restaurant in Hilton Vancouver Airport Hotel – 5911 Minoru Blvd, Richmond – January 28, 7:30pm
Price per person: $28

I haven’t heard of this restaurant before – actually, I don’t think I’ve ever had a dine out in Richmond before, but my friend had booked it for his birthday, as it had quite a number of selections for its courses. For appetizer I had the crab cake with salsa & chipole sauce. It was rather delicious and the portion was quite big – nicely decorated was a plus! The soup of the day was Mushroom Soup, which I heard was quite good as well. We each tried a different entree, and this time my steak was cooked just right, medium-rare, leaving it quite juicy inside. The chicken dish was tender as well. I was already really full from dinner already, so I only had half the chocolate, and packed the other half to go. It was extra chocolaty and rich, with a tangy sour raspberry sauce to complement!

Most of the time a hotel’s not really known for its restaurant, but I was surprised by the dining experience that I would come back again.

Below is my selection:
Appetizer: Crab Cake – Local crab with corn-smoked tomato salsa & chipotle aioli
Entrée: Filet Mignon – Certified Angus beef topped with woodland mushroom sauce, creamy garlic Yukon gold mashed and asparagus
Dessert: Double Chocolate Cake – Dark chocolate cake with ganache icing served with raspberry sauce and seasonal berry

Overall I give it a 8.5!

    whitney: Really enjoyed the steak, and yes, you can see the blood :-P

    tetleytee: The dish was Chicken Saltimbocca, so they wrap it in prosciutto, so I think that kept some of the moisture in well!
